The ABC of Me

I wandered into someone’s blog today at WordPress. I did a search with the phase ‘planning a baby’ on her blog, and this turns up, which is based on another blog post here. So I might as well try to write my own version of it. O and I just realize that one of the ladies is also called Natalie, and both of them are also living in Australia.

A. Age: 35. I may not look like it but I have not been asked for an ID check at the casino for a while now.

B. Bed size: Double. It has just enough space for 2 humans and 1 feline.

C. Chore you hate: Planning what to have for dinner.

D. Day: Saturday. I was born on a Saturday.

E. Essential start to your day: Taking my own temperature.

F. Favourite colour: Used to be baby green, but it’s bright purple these days.

G. Gold or Silver: Gold to own, silver to wear.

H. Height: 158cm.

I. iPhone: Don’t have one and have no intention to own one in the near future.

J. Job title: Looking for one.

K. Kids: Thinking of having one next year.

L. Live: Currently sharing a single story 2 bedrooms townhouse with another human and one feline in a suburb of Melbourne 30 min from the CBD. Still paying rent.

M. Mum’s name: Margret. Believe it or not I still don’t know how to spell it first time.

N. Nicknames: Variations of my firstname.

O. Overnight hospital stays: I was told I had choked on a piece of orange once when I was little.

P. Pet peeve: Fidgeting. I hate it when people bounce their legs repeatedly, or when they have to massage their noses too often.

Q. Quote from a movie: Young lovers seek perfection. Old lovers learn the art of sewing shreds together and of seeing beauty in a multiplicity of patches. ~ Finn, How to Make an American Quilt (1995) ~

R. Right or left handed: Right.

S. Siblings: One younger sister.

T. Time you wake up: Around 8.00 these days, but it might not be the time I get up.

U. Underwear: Got some folding to do.

V. Vegetables you dislike: Bitter melon.

W. What makes you run late: My other half.

X. X-Rays you’ve had: Dental.

Y. Yummy food you make: Cookies.

Z. Zoo: Haven’t been to one for quite a long while.

Natural Disasters, Personal Possession

Week 2 8 – 14 Jan 2011

Into the second week of 2011, the breaking news around the world was flooding, landslide, and more natural disasters.

Up in Queensland Australia, the raising of river level and fresh flooding affected many townships and even the state capital city Brisbane could not escape the overflow of the water. The state Premier has launched a Disaster Relief Appeal to support the devastated communities who some families may have lost everything.

Watching the news safely at home down south in Melbourne, this reminded me of the bushfire in Victoria back in early 2009, which many people had lost their home, family, friends and even their life.

I consider myself lucky, so far me or my other family members are living at safe locations around the world. None of us have been affected by any natural disasters or accidents which cause any lost of our belongings or lives.

When I look around my living room I see things lying around. My household is in no way prepared for any sudden evacuation if anything happened. Our IDs or insurance papers are all over the place. What if something happen tomorrow and we only have 5 minutes, or less, to pack up and leave? I need to put this onto my 2011 To Do List and have this organized.

Just another thought, with the volcano eruption in Iceland and earthquakes in Chile, Haiti and many other places just last year, is there going to be a major change to the earth we know at the end of 2012? This idea is constantly casting shadow on my mind, affecting the decisions I made on daily basis. So I am wondering, how many people think the world we know would end in 2012? And how should people prepare themselves for any of these natural disasters?

Just Sit Down and Write

2011 Week 1

(This seems a bit late, as the first week of 2011 end on Friday 7 Jan. But just pretend I am working over the weekend. So this is for the first week…here I come.)

With the a post a week or a post a day challenge at WordPress and the discovery of Project 52, it seems logical for me to have a goal to write more in this year. So the next thing I did was to do a Google search on ’52 reasons to just sit down and write’ and this article is on the top of the list.

Who am I kidding?

For the past 12 months I did, only for a very short period of time, post a few times a week, either here (at WP) or there (at Blogger). But almost certainly afterward I would disappear for a few months for reasons I am tired to find excuses for.

Although in 2010 I found a few sites which ignite the writing spirit within me, like 2weeks1gather, later moving on to Every Little Life, and 52 Weeks of Wordage. All these sites provide the enlightenment of writing and the feeling of not being alone. But I did not have a good track record. That’s why I afraid to sign up for anything openly. But I would still give it a try. I need this. I need the uncontrollable typing fingers typing away the tiny bitty thought mingling in my mind. I got lots of words and lines all ready in the mind when I am walking about. But seldom did they flow back into my life when I am sitting in front of the computer. And I don’t have an iPhone, or any smart phone. I am still madly in love with my 2 1/2 G camera phone. It does allow me to post photo to my Well. But still, only if I do take a picture and write something, a post a day or a post a week is still a big commitment. But I will try. I want to do it. Ooh I know, if I put it in this year resolution, then I can whine on it if I did not make it a post a day/week at the end of the year. How about that?

One less place to look after

I have just migrated my old posts at Eko’s Garden to here.

The oldest post over there was written on 8 April 2006.

The migration has made a mess to this place.

Maybe I will tidy up these old entries one day.

Maybe I will just let them be.

They were once pieces of me from the past.

They were there for a reason.

But for now I have one less place to look after.

Still got many pieces of me out there.

But this is me.

This is Dreamy Dots. With a S for the Dots.
